Lent begins Wednesday, February 14th and it is the 40 days (minus Sundays) before Easter. Traditionally, the Church used this time to fast and focus on the cross of Christ as we approach Good Friday and Easter, which commemorates Jesus' death and celebrates his resurrection. It is a time we intentionally remember our own need for salvation and God's amazing grace that has saved us.
As we have practiced fasting together during the One Desire Fast, Lent will also be a good opportunity to continue growing in our hunger for God, especially in this "Grow" season.
There are no specific guidelines for fasting during Lent, but it will be based on our own personal conviction. You can fast from meat, coffee, games, social media, or something else entirely up to you - but most importantly let's make sure to not just fast but to also feast on Christ through set aside times in the Word and prayer.
You are invited to fast on Thursdays during the Lent season to pray particularly for our church, as our leaders currently do.
