“Life in the city can be taxing. City dwellers often face higher rates of crime, pollution, social isolation and other environmental stressors than those living in rural areas” (Diana Kwon, “Does City Life Pose a Risk to Mental Health?“).
Studies show that living in an urban center leads to higher rates of mental illness like depression and anxiety. This is a reality for life in metropolitan Jakarta as well. So as followers of Jesus Christ, we cannot ignore this; instead, we must tackle depression and anxiety from a biblical point of view.
“When You’re Down” is a two-part sermon series that will present a biblical approach to understanding mental health, how to handle depression and anxiety in one’s own life, and how we as the church can help others who struggle as well.
