Devoted Together Series
In Acts 2:42-47, we find an awe-inspiring, life-transforming, God-glorifying description of the first-century church. But verse 42 is the key verse that catalyzed this kind of church: “And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.”
“There’s a keyword in this passage that separates the attempts of our modern church from the first church: devoted.
In our impatient culture, we want to experience biblical awe without biblical devotion. At the core of our dysfunction is not necessarily style or structure but lack of devotion” (Francis Chan, Letters to the Church).
As God’s people, we want to be devoted together in the right things to be the church that Christ died and resurrected for us to be.
In this four-part sermon series titled “Devoted Together,” we’ll look at what it means to be a church that is devoted “In the Word,” “In Fellowship,” “In Breaking Bread,” and “In Prayer.”
