Lent starts on Wednesday, February 22, 40 days (minus Sundays) before Easter. Traditionally, the Church has used this time to fast and focus on Jesus’ death and resurrection as we approach Good Friday and Easter. It’s a time where we’re intentionally remembering our own need for salvation and God’s amazing grace that has saved us, and a great opportunity to continue growing in our hunger for God.
Lent is a great opportunity to continue growing in our hunger for God, even as we refocus on our need for salvation and God’s amazing grace that has saved us.
There are no specific guidelines for fasting during Lent, as it will be based on our own personal conviction. So if you want to fast from social media, meat, coffee, or something else, that’s up to you. But more importantly, let’s make sure to not just fast but to also feast on Christ through set aside times in the Word and prayer.
