Passage: Isaiah 1-5
Service Type:

The prophet Isaiah's name means, "The Lord Saves," which is the overall theme of the book of Isaiah. These were messages for God's people in the southern Kingdom of Judah (after Solomon, the kingdom was split into Israel in the north and Judah in the south). These were times of rebellion and crisis among God's people and times of political and military volatility in the region. God's messages revealed his holy and righteous judgment as well as his gracious salvation for not only the people of Israel but for all the other people groups as well. In today's times of crisis and volatility, these messages can confront us with the greatness of God's glory and can also comfort us with the graciousness of God's salvation.
